What this directory checks, and what it leaves to you

Studios, shalas and training programmes reach us as submissions from the people who run them. We read every one, ask for the details behind the schedule, and say plainly where our knowledge stops. This page explains how a listing gets in, how corrections and removals work, and which claims you should still confirm yourself before you travel or pay a deposit.

What we check, and what we don't

A directory is only useful if you know how it was built. Here is how listings reach these pages, where the information comes from, and which parts of a studio or training we simply cannot confirm from a desk in another city.

How does a studio or shala get listed?

Organisers send us the basics: address, class styles, weekly schedule, teacher names and the certification each teacher holds. We ask for a link to the training certificate or the registering body, and we check that the schedule matches what is published on the studio's own page. If a listing is submitted by a student rather than the owner, we contact the studio before it goes live.

Do you rank studios or recommend one over another?

No. We name our sources and describe what each space offers, but we do not score, rank or endorse. A 200-hour programme in Ubud and a small neighbourhood shala in Bandung serve different people, and a single number would flatten that. Read the profile, check the schedule, and visit if you can.

What happens when a date changes or a studio closes?

Retreats and trainings move, and small studios close quietly. When we hear about a change, we update the listing or remove it. If you spot something out of date, write to us at info@yogaunionindonesia.com and we will follow up with the organiser before editing the page.

What can't you verify?

Insurance, visas, working rights and the day-to-day quality of a class are outside what a directory can confirm. We also cannot vouch for how a teacher handles a room on a bad day. Treat every listing as a starting point: ask the studio directly, sit in on a class, and decide for yourself.

How is pricing described?

Where organisers share their rates, we describe the structure — drop-in, class pack, training deposit — without turning it into a comparison table. Rates shift with the season and the exchange rate, so always confirm the current figure with the studio before you commit.
